GAIA

FERMENTED WITH THE ENERGY OF THE MOST GIFTED LAND WITH THE SIGN OF AMMONITE.

The fossil of the Aegean Sea – whispering the ancient secrets of the Greek land has been getting around the world the most famous Greek varieties the last years using the name GAIA wines. This was accomplished, with the education and the passion of its people.  GAIA Wines were founded in 1994 by Yiannis Paraskevopoulos (Agriculturalist and PhD in Enology from the University of Bordeaux II) and Leon Karatsalos (Agriculturalist).  Both of them are the ideal examples of the Greek mindset of traveling and gaining knowledge and experience – characteristics transmitted  to the production of their wines- aiming to offer to all the wine lovers worldwide, the best possible result in their own way.

“Our basic option was to install our wineries in the two most important wine-growing regions of Greece, Santorini and Nemea, and to produce competitive wines of high quality standards.” – Yiannis Paraskevopoulos

“We expected people reading the labels of Gaia Wines to understand this provocative idea which was our driving force, and always remains the same: to explore in depth the boundaries of the Greek varieties, making them well -known all over the world.” – Leon Karatsalos

NOTIOS WHITE  / 0,75 LT

Roditis Alepou originated from the mountainous Aigialeia, in approximately 1000 m altitude and Moschofilero, originated from the Arcadian plateau can be always blended harmoniously in all the wineries of the Peloponnese.

In this traditional company we added the cosmopolitan now Assyrtiko from Santorini, raised in a Peloponnesian way. This addition was warmly welcomed because it gave out what was missing: Strength, Length and Depth.

Enjoy it with a cuisine of medium to high intensity or even on its own as an aperitif, but always with good company.

GAIA S / 0,75 LT

The grapes come from GAIA’s private vineyard at upland Koutsi, in Nemea. GAIA S ages for 12 months in 225 lit. French oak barrels coming from the Nevers & Allier forests in central France. When bottled, without undergoing any filtering or additional procedures, it matures for at least five months before being released to the market.

The result is a particularly deep red wine with intense aromas, cleanliness and complexity created by the perfect and respectful amalgamation of Agiorgitiko and Syrah. Its structure is rich and generous. We strongly believe that kept under good cellar conditions, this wine will improve for years to come.

Remember to spend Gaia S in a decanting, at least half an hour before you enjoy it. Its new dimension that will emerge, will excite you!

ΑSSYRTIKO BY GAIA WILD FERMENT / 0,75 LT

The carefully selected matured and qualitative Assyrtiko comes exclusively from the vineyard of Pyrgos, justifying its big aromatic character.

THALASSITIS OAK FERMENTED / 0,75 LT

Wood, vanilla, incense and acacia flower aromas when it’s ‘mouth’ are well-structured, round, mouth filling with a long finish.

The very carefully selected grapes, the fermentation and maturation being carried out in 225 Lt and 300 Lt in new French oak barrels give us wines really exuberant and complete.

VINSANTO BY GAIA / 0,5 LT

Complex and intense aromas, where the caramelized fruits like raisins, apricots and figs predominate. Sweet and very complex taste with impressive length. Notes of coffee, bergamot and again dried fig are the most distinct. It is also important to emphasize that although it is a very sweet wine, it manages to balance with a good acidity that continues to provide it with nerve and intensity.

Enjoy this rare wine at 6-8oC with a beautiful dark chocolate dessert or cellar it for future enjoyment for many, many years.
